Outreach program in Indonesia
Interview with Judith Spijkerman
The Princess Máxima Center’s mission to cure every child with cancer while maintaining an optimal quality of life does not stop at the Dutch borders. From 2022 until 2024, pediatric oncology fellow Judith Spijkerman is working at the Dr. Sardjito hospital in Yogyakarta, Indonesia as part of the Máxima Center’s Outreach program. Her task is to intensify the existing partnership with two Javanese hospitals.
Volunteers
Interview with volunteer Bianca Fidder
The Máxima Center has 47 permanent volunteers and 251 volunteers from organizations such as Make-a-Wish and Ronald McDonald. The group is diverse: one has a full-time job, the other is already retired, one is an experienced volunteer, and the other has only been volunteering for a few months. But they have one thing in common: each one of them works with heart and soul for the children and parents of the Máxima Center.
